Tours
The Empire Mine State Historic Park offers a variety of
different tours including:

Public Tours
Cottage Grounds: Your tour guide will lead you
through the history of the ownership of the Empire Mine and
the key players in the mine development. The tour includes
the Bourn Cottage, the Clubhouse, and the George Starr
home ruins.

Mineyard: This tour addresses the gold mining
process, mine statistics, mining equipment, the use of
mules and the miners themselves.

Gardens: This tour features a walk in the rose
garden with it's many varieties of roses and other
plants. Most of the roses are from original plantings in
the 1897 time period and some have been propagated by Park
volunteers and are available for purchase at the sales
counter.Garden Groups are invited to contact the Park ( see below ) to arrange private tours.Many groups combine the tour(s) with a luncheon which is served on the Clubhouse Patio.
Private Tours
These tours are identical to the public tours above but are
available with a dedicated tour guide to special groups.
School Tours: One of California's educational
requirements for 4th graders is California history. The
Park has tailored the school tours to meet this
requirement. The mineyard tour features as many "hands-on"
experiences as possible making it an interactive
program which is both entertaining and educational for
the students.
